The Office of Student Financial Assistance will again be holding various financial aid events throughout February, March and April – ranging from helping students to file their Financial Aid Applications to Information Sessions about the Financial Aid process.
We would like to remind our students that they can begin filling out their 2013-2014 FAFSA Application as early as today! The 2013-2014 FAFSA covers Fall Semester 2013, Spring Semester 2014.
By completing the FAFSA students are applying for state and federal financial aid in the form of grants, loans and work study. Most colleges and universities require the FAFSA to be completed to apply for their institutional grants and scholarships. It is important for all students to complete the FAFSA!
Due to state funding for the Illinois MAP Grant – students are strongly encouraged to file their 2013-2014 FAFSA by March 1, 2013!!
To help make the 2013- 2014 FAFSA process smoother, the Office of Student Financial Assistance is offering the following events:
Thursday, February 7th – 2013 Free Financial Aid Workshop
7pm - General Financial Aid Overview Presentation (also available in Spanish)
6pm to 8:30pm – Computer lab will be open for students to file their 2013-2014 FAFSA that day!

Monday, February 11th to Monday, April 15th – FAFSA Lab Opens
Students are encouraged to stop by the FAFSA Lab located at SSC 2222 and file their 2013-2014 Free Application For Federal Student Aid, FAFSA. The lab will be open:
Monday through Thursday – 9am to 5:30pm
Friday – 9am to 3:30pm
February, March, April 2013 - Financial Aid Information Sessions
These are free information sessions that will be offered throughout February, March and April. Topics to be covered will be how to borrow wisely and understanding your Federal Stafford Loans; how grades impact your financial aid and what type of financial aid is available and where to start.
